FAQs about hotels in Ottawa

A Symbol of Canadian Pride

On the south bank of the Ottawa River, the Canadian capital Ottawa is a grand symbol of what the country stands for: bilingualism, civic pride and wonderful vistas.

Facing Langevin Block (the prime minister’s office) is the city’s most famous landmark - the Centre Block parliament building. Its tall central tower and circular parliamentary library make a great photograph from Gatineau across the river, which is joined to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rideau Canal by a series of locks. Skating on the frozen canal is a highlight of the huge Ottawa Winterlude festival.

The city’s history is detailed in Bytown Museum by the locks. Opposite is peaceful Major’s Hill Park, overlooked by Château Laurier, a historic hotel named after a former prime minister. Also named after him is Laurier House, his seat of office. Other important national buildings include the Royal Canadian Mint, Supreme Court, and Rideau Hall, the Queen’s official residence when in the country.

The business district and Ottawa Convention Centre are in Downtown, and nearby shopping options include Rideau Mall and ByWard Market - the oldest farmers’ market in Canada and the area with the best nightlife.

Ottawa accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with pools, B&Bs with parking and apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from MacDonald-Cartier Airport.

The only difference this year compared to last year was they removed the breakfast buffet to go? I would like to enjoy my breakfast on bed. But this year they gave me a continental breakfast bag which is not very appealing.

Ottawa is a heavy traffic city made difficult to get around by construction zones, one way streets, and heavy rain. A hop on hop off bus trip made for a good way of seeing the city in rain. Wonderful architecture, well groomed parks, and a variety of museums and government buildings, provide the visitor with rich experiences.

The Hop On and Hop Off bus was not available.

The Hop On and Hop Off bus was not available. There were lots of us, tourists, who went around the vicinity looking for the bus, Ottawa is a beautiful city. My first impression was, you see a lot of policemen around which made us feel safe.

We were there for the tulip festival on the Victoria weekend. The place was bustling. We went to Parliament buildings and had a great time walking around. Ate at a nice buffet in the Byward Market. Lots of activities around there. Live dj in the street, sales booths, etc... The family members that came with me for the trip thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. We even took time to go to Rue Ste. Catherine in Montreal.

    Lots to see and visit.

Lots to see and visit. I was able to walk around easily, I visited the Tulip Festival and there was a shuttle bus that stopped and picked up passengers from different hotels close to me. You paid once for the round trip and could return whenever you wanted which made it very convenient. There are several restaurants close to my hotel so there was no problem finding one to eat at.

Everything about this location was special, Mr. Richard was an amazing host and his house is very unique, the property is located very close of a lot of embassies, very convenient if you are traveling to do something in those places, specially if you came to the Embassy of Venezuela that has a lot of people traffic, you can walk 13 minutes and get the embassies and is only 10 minutes away to go walking to Ottawa downtown

This is a charming, service-orientated hotel boasting easy access to most downtown Ottawa amenities. The staff (a shout-out to Daniel, the handyman) are exceptionally helpful, but non-obtrusive. The buffet breakfast was above-average. The hotel is easy to reach from the airport by public transit. The walk from the the Rideau Centre LRT station to the hotel was less than 10 minutes.

Didn't expect to have breakfast because it wasn't listed when I booked. It turned out to be the nicest meals we've had in Ottawa. We were surprised to find out that there was an outlet mall across the street from the hotel. It took 20 minutes to drive to downtown which we didn't mind at all.

Location is very convenient - just a few blocks to downtown or just 5 min drive to center of downtown Ottawa. Breakfast - it is free but you have hash, omelet (small but enough size for breakfast) as well as muffins (a bit cheaper version of McMuffins) and more.

The breakfast was first rate with a lot of choices, eggs, meat, bread, yogurt, fruit, waffles, juices, coffeee, cereal, etc. The hotel while close to the highway, was quiet. It was easy to acess the train and bus, but downtown Ottawa was just 7 minutes by car.
